Turmalin

Although the female white-necked jacobins are not considered territorial, intraspecific competition for food sources with males does occur. The latest findings from 2021 indicate that the species is polymorphic and that around 20 % of females look like males. By appearing as males, which are considered more defensive than females, they are less likely to be chased away from food sources and thus can enjoy their peace and quiet.
