Schneewanderer

When winter storms sweep across the high plateaus of the Scandinavian Mountains, temperatures regularly drop below –20 °C, and the snow has long since buried the moose’s food supply deep beneath it, the moose have already migrated. Moose leave the high plateaus in late fall to spend the winter at lower elevations, and as the snow melts, they slowly return to the higher regions of the mountains to graze on the alpine meadows. During these seasonal migrations, moose can cover distances of up to 200 km in just a few weeks.
