Landgang

Plants conquered the land in the early Ordovician (approx. 480 to 450 million years ago) and thus about 100 million years before vertebrates. After this landfall of streptophyte algae, the presence of the first photosynthetically active land plants led to a slow change in the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere and thus to a lasting change in the climate. This laid the foundation for the development of further life on land.
