Grenzland

While all the plants around it are buried under deep snow, this pine tree (Pinus sylvestris) stands alone, braving the harsh winter of the Finnish Lapland tundra. For weeks on end, it sees no light and withstands temperatures that regularly drop below -30 °C and can even fall below -50 °C. Wind-resistant and even heat-tolerant, it withstands nearly all weather conditions in this frontier region of the Arctic North.
