Gletscherland

Water is a basic element of all life. Today, it covers just over 70 % of the earth's surface, with only around 3 % being fresh water. The majority of this rare water is either bound below the earth's surface in groundwater or, in particular, in a frozen state as ice. Glaciers thus act as gigantic reservoirs, which currently still contain around 70 % of the world's fresh water. However, climate change is having a major impact on this reservoir and therefore on the entire water cycle.
