Chrysopras

Chrysopras

The white-whiskered hermit inhabits rainforests from sea level up to 2,000 m above sea level. The species is considered a trap-liner because it flies the same one-kilometre route over and over again to visit its flowering plants. Most other hummingbird species, on the other hand, are territorial and remain in their local territory, which they usually fight for. The white-whiskered hermit is adapted to tubular flowering plants, but despite its long beak, it can also hunt insects and spiders.
