Aventurin

Sparkling violetears are highly territorial and dominate other hummingbird species. They use acoustic signals to warn other species of intrusion into their territory. If their territory is violated, they are usually extremely aggressive, raising their ear feathers and spreading their tail feathers. It is not uncommon for physical contact to occur, in which the species uses its size as an advantage. At higher altitudes in the Andes, the páramo, however, they are considered more peaceful.
