MUSTER
SHAPES OF NATURE
Wilhelm von Humboldt mentioned in one of his letters that basically everything big in the world is also reflected in the small, if one only wants to recognise it.

The English word for water, the cornerstone of all life on earth, and the old German word wazzar are both of the same Germanic origin and describe the flowing, the moist. Water has both temporal and spatial patterns that reveal themselves from the largest stream of water to the smallest molecule, in the transition from liquid to solid and from chaos to order.

According to Galileo Galilei, the book of the universe is written in mathematical language, and the symbols are triangles, circles and other geometrical figures.

Mathematical patterns are characterised by regularities and spatially periodic repetitions. These patterns can be found in both animate and inanimate nature as modules which - usually following a function or a rule - form organisms or structures when linked together. A closer look usually reveals fascinating connections beneath the surface.
